Flowers for a Tea occasion

Season: March
By Grand Master Fuden-an Sojitsu

Flower: 'akebono-tsubaki' and 'shiromoji'.
Container: Chinese bronze vase.

This is the flower arrangement I placed in the tokonoma of a large tea room on the occasion of the last commemoration of the death of Kobori Enshu. The large bronze vase has a shape that brings good luck, since its upper part represents bamboo, its handles the Karamatsu and its lower part the plum tree. The association of these three trees is traditionally considered as a happy sign.
